When I started at Furniture Bank, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Though I’ve always loved building businesses from scratch, I had never imagined how fulfilling building a charity with its own business could be.

Heading into year two I find myself balancing work across development, partnerships, client services, furniture donors, warehouse, trucking logistics, a big healthy range of technologies, hiring to grow our awesome team, and helping to solve challenges like ‘how do we take the Furniture Bank model across Canada?’. I’ve loved every minute working at Furniture Bank.

When I’m not working, I’m spending time with Tamara (my wife) and kids, teaching statistics at our local college, and/or having a nice strong coffee.

My passion to fundraise at Furniture Bank is attributed to the stability, dignity and security (financial and social) it provides to our clients new lives.

I am inspired by the generosity of our furniture and financial donors and volunteers, and dedicated to combining the best of the philanthropic and business approaches to revenue development, to increase the impact of that generosity.

I am inspired by our collective ambition to drive deep impact in every step of our organization from our employment program to our furniture repair workshop, using the framework of a triple bottom line of social, environmental and financial return.

Changing lives since 2008! Every day is a great life changing adventure at Furniture Bank.

From collaborating with partners to grow our Social Enterprise, new marketing strategies, new charitable development for Chair Affair – every moment is focused on building the charity to help every Canadian who needs our support to get up off the floor.

Beyond the mission, we’ll enjoy a pint together, maybe catch a Jays game or just enjoy one another’s company. We are not just co-workers; we are a family that is connected by our cause and we know that 4 walls don’t make a home!

PS. We love a big family so if this sounds like your kinda mission – go check out the careers page!

I’m having a fantastic time managing Furniture Bank’s warehouse operations.

Furniture Bank has been a part of my life for quite a while. I officially joined the team in late 2014 and am enjoying a massive game of ‘Furniture Tetris’ daily. It’s been a unique and satisfying challenge keeping up with the flow. I’m proud to be part of a team motivated by making our community and charity a little better with each day that passes.

When I’m not on the bullhorn from our treehouse I can usually be found duffing my way around the golf course, barbecuing for my family or (when I’m on vacation) sipping on Cerveza Cristal steps away from the Caribbean Sea.

Rare is the opportunity for one person’s problem to so cleanly and completely be someone else’s solution.  At Furniture Bank, our generous donors have sofas and tables and housewares and kindness to share, with others, who desperately need sofas and tables and housewares and kindness. It’s a privilege to help them connect.

In my non-work time, I am likely with my kids at a pool, an ice rink, a park or playground, likely in want of a sandwich.
