Furniture Bank is a registered charity, unique to the Greater Toronto Area and furnish homes for families in need.
In 2011, Furniture Bank provided home furnishings to 2,572 households comprised of more than 5,000 individuals in Greater Toronto Area and also by supplying families with furniture 1138 metric tones of solid waste diverted from landfills. To give you a visual of what this amounts to, one metric tonne would be equivalent to 14 couches.

Homelessness in Greater Toronto Area
There are an estimated 10,000 people on any given day here in the Greater Toronto Area who are homeless or living in shelters and without support. It is incredibly difficult for many of these individuals to rise above these circumstances and move forward into positive change. Through programs administered by the City of Toronto, many now have access to affordable housing.
Furniture Bank has been able to help good people who find themselves in bad situations through donations for eleven years. By supplying them with furniture and household goods we change their lives and provide the necessary resources to live in a more dignified manner.

There are several ways that you can help us to help others:
Donate gently used furniture and household items that are clean and in a good state of repair. Examples include:
• Furniture – sofas, kitchen and dining; room tables, beds, dressers
• Furnishings – lamps, pictures, bedding and linens
• Kitchenware – pots & pans, dishes and cutlery, toasters and microwave ovens
In particular, we always have a great need for tables, dressers and beds.
