Kiran Thind founded Cherry Bomb Vintage in 2006. Upon graduation from Ryerson University’s School of Interior Design, she worked in residential design and always had a keen interest in furniture. After restoring a few vintage pieces for her home, she enrolled in Mohawk College ’s Upholstery program. She creates unique furniture that combines bold colours and patterns inspired by current sources like street art, fashion and music with a sensibility for vintage glamour which contrasts and complements the framework of the original pieces. Kiran does custom client upholstery work, collects and sells vintage furnishings and recently organized Make It, a showcase of local artists and designers.

Inspiration:

How Quickly the Glamour Fades…

“The looking glass so shiny and new,
How quickly the glamour fades.
I start spinning, slipping out of time.
Was that the wrong pill to take?” - Florence & The Machine

I was inspired by the decaying but delicate and feminine frame of the chair I selected to juxtapose those two elements for my design. As the lyrics suggest, the chair has been through the looking glass into a glamourous world and has emerged back again into reality, perhaps a little worse for wear.
