Day in the Life of a Corporate Volunteer

RRYIR-RBC to announce first quarter 2021 results

It started with a few tears and ended with many smiles…

Our friends from RBC came in for another day of volunteering this week. This group of “regulars” volunteer with us every 6 weeks, helping individuals transitioning out of homelessness select furniture for their newly established homes. Here’s a first hand look from their morning of volunteering at Furniture Bank. Special thanks to our volunteer photographer Lora for taking such awesome photos!

RBC Volunteer Photo Journal

The morning started off with a group orientation. We went over as a group what it means to be a showroom guide helping clients select furniture, updates on new initiatives at Furniture Bank and of course shared our excitement for the upcoming Chair Affair event. It did get a bit emotional in the board room when Keran, one of our regular volunteers, shared a client story that truly touched her heart and those around her.

During the showroom tour, volunteers were learning about the deeper impact of furniture and how the furniture selection process works. Before this shot was taken the volunteers were raving about the beautiful vintage furniture items that were on the showroom that day.

Volunteers got straight to work helping sort through donation boxes of housewares. As one volunteer described: “It’s like a treasure hunt!”
