Buying New Furniture – Which Sellers Offer Furniture Removal for Your Old Stuff?

When buying new furniture, we are often replacing existing items. Wouldnt it be ideal if we could have the old furniture removed at the same time we are receiving our new furniture?

Unfortunately, the removal of old furniture presents issues of health, safety and liability for furniture companies, and most of these companies do not offer a furniture removal service.  Some companies will move your old furniture to the curb where it will likely be transported to a landfill site.

Listed below is a list of major furniture stores in Toronto and the GTA and the service they provide related to furniture removal:

Barrymore Furniture Do not remove old furniture
Decorium Do not remove old furniture
Elte Do not remove old furniture
Lazyboy Will only take to the curb for you, on a one for one basis, e.g. one old sofa for one new sofa.   No charge
Leons Will only take to the curb for you, on a one for one basis, e.g. one old sofa for one new sofa.   No charge
Pottery Barn Do not remove old furniture
Sears Removal of sleep sets (mattress and boxspring).  No removal other than sleep sets and major appliances. $25.00
Structube Do not remove old furniture
The Bay Will only take to the curb for you, on a one for one basis, e.g. one old sofa for one new sofa.  Charge $25 for removal of sleep sets (mattress and boxspring). $25.00
The Brick Will remove mattress and boxspring, which must be wrapped in plastic bags purchased from The Brick.  No removal other than sleep sets and major appliances. $10 per item
Urban Barn Do not remove old furniture
West Elm Do not remove old furniture

Our furniture removal service will come pick up your used furniture for a fee, redistribute it to people transitioning out of homelessness & displacement and get you a tax receipt for the fair market value of your donated items.
