To receive furniture from Furniture Bank one needs to be referred from one of our "registered" partner agencies or shelters.
These organizations play a critical role by helping to screen potential furniture recipients. Wherever possible, Furniture Bank does its best to accommodate the furniture and household goods needs of our clients based on current furniture inventory levels.
Please note! We do NOT make appointments directly with furniture recipients. Please do not call us if you are looking for furniture.
What are the costs involved?
If you are a client referred by one of our agencies, you don't pay anything for the furniture or household items you will receive. You pay only a small fee for the delivery, in either curb side or inside delivery. If clients do not have their own transportation, Furniture Bank provides a delivery service which is available at a nominal fee.
Public Health concerns
At Furniture Bank, we work hard to ensure that every piece of furniture we provide for our clients is 100% free from all harmful substances including parasites such as bed bugs. Our thorough approach in redistributing furniture begins with screening donated items for harmful substances and continues through every step of the supply chain process.
Screening Process
We screen every piece of furniture we receive and work to ensure that the donated items are, in fact, gently used. We do not accept any furniture that may be contaminated.
Trained Employees
Every Furniture Bank employee is trained to identify the signs that furniture may be contaminated by bed bugs. This training is a continuous education program.
Rigorous Pickup Inspection
Every item sent out to a family is inspected at least 4 times by a Furniture Bank trained employee. These inspections occur twice during the pickup and drop off stage as we receive the donated furniture and twice more during the pickup and drop off stage as we deliver the furniture to the client.
Frequent Facility Inspections
Our facilities and vehicles are routinely inspected and treated for parasites by a professional pest control company as a preventive measure. We are vigilant in our pest control efforts.
