WASTE TO WONDERFurniture Bank relies on the generosity and corporate social responsibility of many corporate organizations and it is through this support that we are able to continue to maintain our inventory and serve families in the GTA. Waste to Wonder is one of these organizations.
Waste to Wonder is an environmental and charitable organization that diverts used furniture and IT to charities locally and around the world through its BIG Bright Future program. Working with charities such as UNESCO, UNDP, Born Free, World ORT and Mercy in Action, Waste to Wonder have made a difference in Haiti, Liberia, Morocco, Romania, India, and South Africa, just to name a few. Since January alone, when Waste to Wonder opened in the Greater Toronto Area, they have developed a network of charities they are supporting that benefit over 55,000 people each year in the region. This number continues to grow daily and there are very exciting opportunities on the horizon.
Waste to Wonder’s Kathryn Long says “Waste to Wonder admires and supports a number of charities, but sometimes one comes along doing such amazing work and shows such innovation that we simply have to shout about them.”
Waste to Wonder makes regular drop offs to Furniture Bank providing tables, chairs, desks and other materials that are then distributed through our warehouse for selection by our clients.
“Re-using products saves the energy associated with manufacturing new ones, which has an enormous and positive impact on reducing carbon emissions and stops objects and materials from entering the waste stream. Waste to Wonder and Furniture Bank are innovative projects that not only divert waste from landfill but provide social benefits and perfectly demonstrates partnerships working,” said Alan Cooper Director and Co-Founder of Waste to Wonder.
