Furniture Bank had a successful year in 2012, receiving more donations of furniture and helping more households than ever before. We're looking to build on our success in 2013.
Our success would not have been possible without the assistance and generosity of many partners who help us fulfill our mission.
Furniture Bank works in partnership with many community agencies and shelters to assist individuals and families (households) to obtain furniture for their new homes. These agencies play a critical role by helping to screen and prioritize potential furniture recipients. This helps Furniture Bank ensure we help those most in need. In 2010, Furniture Bank was able to add 15 additional agencies it now partners with across the Greater Toronto Area. We now work with over 60 agencies.
City of Toronto, Streets to Homes Program
We are proud to be a key partner to the City of Toronto’s Streets to Homes (S2H) program. S2H assists the homeless by helping them to secure accommodation while their caseworkers help individuals integrate back into the community. While an apartment or other lodging satisfies a critical need, Furniture Bank makes an important contribution in helping turn those accommodations into “homes”.
We have a number of charitable foundations that assist us financially. Without their support we simply could not do the good work we do. While some foundations request anonymity, others allow us to share their name.
We are proud to be associated with numerous businesses that support us with in-kind donations of furniture and household goods, software licenses, and computer hardware. In addition, a number of organizations provide volunteer resources. An up to date list can be found on our website.
Toronto Enterprise Fund
We gratefully acknowledge a key funding source, the Toronto Enterprise Fund (TEF). TEF is a coalition including the United Way of Greater Toronto, the City of Toronto, the Federal and Ontario governments.
