Raised:$ 1,400
Spencer Sharabi and Sara Ozog, two George Brown students studying Special Events Planning createe a fundraiser geared to creating awareness of Furniture Bank amongst local youth on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011 at the el Mocambo on 464 Spadina. “Beat for the Bank” brought together numerous popular musical genres including rap, hip-hop, acoustic rock and RB. Also featured were the talents of a dance team, two comedians and an outstanding local DJ.
Proceeds from the event were close to $1,400 and has resulted in more youth engaging with Furniture Bank through social media, in-kind donations and proposed fundraisers. We are incredibly grateful for the support of George Brown for including us in their list of hosting organizations for their internships and to Spencer and Sara for the magnificent success of their efforts. Thanks also to the el Mocambo and Serving Charity projects for their sponsorship. The event was much fun for all involved and a generous support to our charity.
