More Than Just Volunteering

Many hands make light work…

Friday before the Canada Day long weekend our friends from Mackenzie Investments were back to spend the morning volunteering at Furniture Bank. It was awesome to see both old and new faces working together as showroom guides helping families and individuals select furniture for their newly established homes.

In just 4 hours of volunteering, 5 Mackenzie volunteers impacted the lives of:

  • 34 people who received furniture for their homes that day, including 15 children
  • 8 newcomers and refugees reestablishing their lives in Canada
  • 9 people who chose mattressess that didn’t have beds before

True Champions

Not only has Mackenzie Investment’s staff volunteered hours of their time with our organization, the company’s foundation generously donated $40,000 to help us build our furniture repair workshop (standing inside in the photo above).

Thank you Mackenzie for turning our dream into a reality. Very soon we’ll be able to divert even more furniture from the landfill and teach participants of our Leg Up Skills Training and Employment Program new trades and skills.
