Furniture Bank Warehouse Overwhelmed With Furniture Donations for Syrian Refugees This Week!

Thank you for your support! If you would like to drop off furniture at our Etobicoke facility, please consider waiting till the New Year

Furniture Bank has seen a huge spike in donations of furniture in connection with its campaign to support Syrian refugees settling into new lives. Now, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of residents in the GTA, our warehouse is operating at its absolute maximum capacity.

So much so that we have to make the difficult decision to limit drop offs of furniture at our warehouse in Etobicoke due to lack of space and funds to handle it. If you would like to make a furniture donation by dropping off your furniture, please consider waiting until the New Year, when donations that have already come in will have been delivered to our clients.

We have companies, large organizations and hundreds of families asking to donate furniture. Unfortunately our facility and staff can only accommodate so much at any one time. Every day, we serve 20 families or more, so we need time to allow us to free up space for your furniture, and the staff to support the unloading and processing of your donation.

As of today, we are asking our donors to please hold off on dropping off furniture at our warehouse until the new year – we will begin accepting furniture drop offs again as soon as we can. Our drop off page will be updated as soon as we begin accepting drop off donations again, so please check there for updates or call us on 416-934-1229 Ext #2.

“We dearly want to accept more, but we are out of space to store all this furniture, and have no funds for additional staff and trucks to deliver this furniture” says Dan Kershaw. “Like our cousins in Vancouver – we need funding for more space, trucks and staff to be able to reach and deliver all this furniture.”

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support. To learn more about how we are helping Syrian refugees, please visit: https://www.furniturebank.org/syrian-refugee-crisis/
