Francisca’s Story

Client Impact: Francisca's Story

A Furniture Bank Impact Story

Francisca* arrived in Canada from her native country Guatemala as a refugee, fleeing domestic violence from a previous marriage. Francisca was ready to begin rebuilding confidence, security and stability for her family in their new home of Canada. Alongside her new husband and four children, with another on the way, Francisca landed in Toronto at the recommendation of her cousin, looking to forge a new life.

The Peel Family Shelter found an apartment for Francisca’s family and she came to Furniture Bank to make it into a home. At the Furniture Bank warehouse, Francisca was able to make decisions on home furnishings for her new apartment: living and dining room furniture, a television, and beds for the whole family. The furniture from Furniture Bank, what was delivered the very next day, provided Francisca with a safe and secure home, and a a fresh new start for her and her family.
