From Engineering Around the World to Furniture Bank

“By volunteering at Furniture Bank I have the satisfaction of knowing that I have been able to help families and individuals get ahead in some small way”

My name is Ron and I’m a retired consulting engineer. I am also a very lucky man. Life has been good to me, so it has always been my desire to give back to those less fortunate than myself after retirement.

After 35 years of applying my electrical engineering and project management skills around the world with a great company, I took the opportunity to retire early and spend more time at home with my family and less time in airports. It was also my opportunity to give back by spending more time helping others who have been less fortunate than me.

Furniture Bank is an organization that helps those that are less fortunate and in need by giving them a step-up and an opportunity to better themselves in a welcoming and respectful way.

By volunteering at Furniture Bank, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I have been able to help families and individuals get ahead in some small way. Not only do I enjoy working with the good people that I have met here, but by helping out with the recycling of materials that cannot be used by clients, I am able to satisfy one of my philosophies – “Waste not, want not.”

Volunteering at Furniture Bank is an enjoyable and truly rewarding experience. I look forward to helping out in anyway that I can.

-Ron
