INSIDE FURNITURE BANK’S FIRST HOME

25 Connell Court has been Furniture Bank’s home since 2012. However, our journey starts years ago and passed through two other Toronto addresses before settling in south Etobicoke. In the spirit of Throwback Thursday (#TBT), here is a look back at our first home at 200 Madison Avenue with a few retro snapshots to help paint the picture of Furniture Bank’s history.

Our original home was a 3,600 square feet of warehouse space in the Annex neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. The late Jack Layton, a Furniture Bank support since our inception, negotiated our use of the space, which we later increased to 5,600 square feet.

Fast forward 18 years, and the land has now been plotted for new affordable housing by The City of Toronto.
