How We’re Bouncing Back

Leons helping Furniture Bank

At the beginning of this week, theft of parts from our fleet of trucks left the majority of them immobile, putting our social enterprise and charity at risk of not being able to operate for weeks. That would have left our clients without gently used furniture which we deliver directly to their residence, and left us unable to collect new furniture donations to replenish our stock of furniture that clients choose from.

But thanks to the power of community, we’re proud to say we’re bouncing back! Thanks to the team at Canada Helps who immediately swung into action to put together a campaign for us, the campaign to raise $20,000 to help us ‘Keep on Trucking’ has already pulled in $16,000 in donations. We’re grateful for the generosity of ordinary Canadians who’ve swung into action and given what they can to ensure we continue to make a positive impact in our community.

Further, we’ve been given generous support from our friends in the trucking and cartage community, whose help has so far ensured we’ve not missed a single client appointment after our setback. And from today we’ll also have the help of Leon’s Canada who have generously donated the use of a truck and crew to help us meet our scheduled client deliveries for the rest of this week – check out our live tweets from the Leon’s truck on our Twitter feed here.

Again, we’re grateful for the way our friends and community have rallied round to help us get back up and bounce back from our setback over the weekend. Most importantly, their continuing support means not a single household has had to sleep or eat on the floor for any longer than they have to – the inspiration behind our work.

If you too would like to chip in, head over to our campaign page on CanadaHelps to give what you can. And if you have furniture to donate, give us ring on 416-934-1229 Ext. #2 and we’ll make sure it gets to a family that needs it.
