About Furniture Bank

We change lives by providing furniture and housewares to people experiencing poverty or displacement.

Our clients include women and children leaving shelters, the formerly homeless, and newcomers and refugees to Canada.

Revenues generated through our furniture removal service, which is run as a social enterprise, funds our charitable activities as we work to end furniture poverty – one sofa and one family at a time.

How it WORKS

Generous clients hire our team to come and pick up their gently used furniture. (distanced pickup available)

Families in need are referred to us and work with our volunteers to choose their next home furnishings.

    Excellent service, as many others have identified . Effective and clear communications, punctual, friendly interactions, pandemic precautions taken and sensible arrangements. Importantly, superb interactions with its movers, going beyond courtesy and effective problem-solving, and frankly doing the heavy lifting in tight corners. Here, the objective of doing social good leaps into action. To pay for the service is worthwhile but the benefits are incalculable. It’s a great way to help others by helping yourself.     Excellent service. Everyone we dealt with was professional and helpful. Arrived when they said and adhered to our buildings COVID protocols. I was happy to pay the fee to arrange the pickup. It was a good feeling to send our gently used sofa to someone else rather than the landfill.

    This charity was great to work with, they were fast with estimates, came and picked up on time, and notified when on their way. The people that picked up were polite and very careful. I was so very pleased with the whole process. There were no surprise it ran perfectly.

    We couldn't have been happier with our experience donating to Furniture Bank. From start to finish the whole process was very professional. The communications were very clear and everyone was helpful. Brendon (I think that was his name) and his partner were very helpful and even took more than what was on the list. Thank you for making a difficult process easy and it's nice to know that people will be using the items we donated.

    Just a note to thank you for the excellent service that we recently received from the Furniture Bank for a pick up in Markham. From your CSR staff that we dealt with prior to the pick up + the two gentlemen that came and were on time, very professional, careful, & appreciative + driving well identified/impressive new large truck... Lastly, the promised tax receipt was issued promptly. We highly recommend this charitable organization and worthwhile cause to others. Job well done.

    I have donated furniture to this valuable charity a few times. The crew is super friendly and really know how to deal with moving furniture. As a retired interior designer I see the value of donating good furniture. Everyone should have a nice space to live in!

    It felt so good to know you are truly helping a family make a home.......the furniture is FREE to people who qualify through the accepted agenccy of the Furniture Bank, You do pay for the professional furniture bank movers..who, by the way, will go to your upstairs.....However a healthy tax receipt is given......so we see it as a very worthwhile win win.
