About Furniture Bank

We change lives by providing furniture and housewares to people experiencing poverty or displacement.

Our clients include women and children leaving shelters, the formerly homeless, and newcomers and refugees to Canada.

Revenues generated through our furniture removal service, which is run as a social enterprise, funds our charitable activities as we work to end furniture poverty – one sofa and one family at a time.

How it WORKS

Generous clients hire our team to come and pick up their gently used furniture. (distanced pickup available)

Families in need are referred to us and work with our volunteers to choose their next home furnishings.

You feel great for making a difference in a family’s life, helping the environment and giving your furniture a second chance. You will also receive a tax receipt for your donation.

    Furniture Bank is a very impressive charity. I wanted my late mother's furniture to go to someone in need.     Great team and a great service! This was my first experience with the Furniture Bank and what a positive experience it was; I was quickly connected with Samantha who guided me through the process, it was very quick, fairly priced and there was no hassle - the team turned when they said they would an very efficiently removed my furniture. I would highly recommend.

    I had a really nice bed and some kitchen appliances that I wanted to donate because I knew they could be used, and i didn’t want to just throw them away. It was hard to find someone to take them amidst a pandemic let alone in the city. Furniture bank was very prompt, friendly and efficient with their services.

    Excellent Customer Service! - I used Furniture Bank to dispose of some good furniture I no longer need. Everyone there from the first person I contacted to the two guys that picked it up were friendly and professional. I love the idea that my old furniture goes to someone who really needs it and I get a charitable donation tax receipt. The process was easy and clear. I have used them before and will do so again.

    I was familiar with the “Furniture Bank” when we delivered a bedroom suite to the Oakville location The staff at the Etobicoke location were very accommodating and friendly. The moving personnel were prompt and efficient. The experience was concluded very quickly. They are very professional and we were so pleased to know it would all go to good homes for the next generation.

    Courteous, professional, safe, careful, punctual are all adjectives that describe the wonderful people at Furniture Bank. Our furniture found homes with those who could really use the them through this service and their pickup fee was reasonable and the tax receipt was a bonus. Overall a stellar experience and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to find a good home for their furniture.

    The absolute best way to help all our communities. I am very happy we have such services in our neighborhoods as I believe in sharing what we can. The guys who came to the house were great - quick, efficient and very personable. Enjoyed meeting them and they are working for such a great cause.

    Excellent service, as many others have identified . Effective and clear communications, punctual, friendly interactions, pandemic precautions taken and sensible arrangements. Importantly, superb interactions with its movers, going beyond courtesy and effective problem-solving, and frankly doing the heavy lifting in tight corners. Here, the objective of doing social good leaps into action. To pay for the service is worthwhile but the benefits are incalculable. It’s a great way to help others by helping yourself.
