Most companies that donate furniture to Furniture Bank are clearing out offices or upgrading showrooms. Quagga Designs is different — they make the furniture themselves.

Based in St. Catharines, Ontario, Quagga designs and manufactures quality furniture right here in Canada. Since June 2022, they’ve donated over $136,000 worth of brand-new pieces to Furniture Bank — bed frames, wardrobes, dressers, mirrors, shelves, and more — putting Canadian craftsmanship directly into the homes of families across the GTA who are rebuilding their lives.

Quagga’s partnership with Furniture Bank has been consistent since day one — five donations across three years, each one bringing a new round of quality, Canadian-made pieces into homes across the GTA. Here’s the story so far.

November 15, 2024

37 items donated

Quagga closed out 2024 with a donation of 37 brand-new queen bed frames — including new slats. For families setting up a bedroom from scratch, a proper bed frame is one of the first steps toward feeling at home again. Thank you, Carl and the Quagga team!

December 20, 2023

79 pieces of furniture donated

198 individuals supported

Just eight days after their previous donation, Quagga returned with a second truckload — this time an impressive range of pieces: queen bed frames in accordion and Waldeck styles, dressers and mirrors in solid cherry and walnut, large shelves, and night tables. It was one of the most diverse donations Quagga has made, furnishing bedrooms and living spaces for dozens of families in a single day.

Quagga brought 44 brand-new double bed frames to Furniture Bank just before the holidays — a perfectly timed donation that helped families settle into furnished bedrooms as winter arrived. All pieces were new, boxed product direct from their production floor.

Quagga’s second donation brought 17 brand-new dressers to families who needed them. A dresser might seem like a small thing — but for a family unpacking into a new home after months of crisis, having a place to put their clothes is part of what makes a house feel like it belongs to them.

This is where it all began. Quagga’s first donation to Furniture Bank was their largest — and one of the most varied. Forty-one wardrobes, 28 mirrors, 17 bed frames, 14 night tables, 13 benches, 9 coffee tables, and 8 TV stands arrived in a single drop-off, all brand new and boxed. In a single day, Quagga helped furnish dozens of homes from bedroom to living room. Three years later, the partnership is still going strong.
