Join Roomful

A house has walls. A home has a bed to sleep in.

You can be part of the reason a family in Toronto has both — not just once, but every month.

Twenty dollars a month doesn’t furnish a room on its own. But a roomful of donors, giving together every month, turns empty rooms into furnished homes for newcomers, refugees, women and children leaving shelters, and families rebuilding after homelessness. You give comfort, dignity, and a place to belong — on a schedule families can count on.

Join Roomful. Give monthly. Pause anytime.

Why monthly

The door opens onto an empty room.

Picture the moment a family finally gets the keys. The hard part is supposed to be over. Then the door opens onto bare walls, an empty kitchen, and nowhere to sleep but the floor.

That moment happens every week, all year long — to a refugee family on their first night, to a mother and her kids walking out of a shelter into a place of their own.

Furniture Bank runs on donated furniture from the community, but donations don’t arrive evenly. In the summer months, the dresser or kitchen table a family needs may simply not be on our showroom floor. Your steady monthly gift is what lets us say yes, buying what we can’t collect so no family walks into an empty room. You give certainty in a year that offers families very little of it.

One item doesn't make a home

One item doesn’t make a home — the same way one donor can’t do it alone. A single side table doesn’t furnish a life. No one person, however generous, can furnish a whole city of families alone. That’s the whole idea behind Roomful.

Your gift doesn’t sit by itself. It joins every other gift in the Roomful into something none of you could do separately — fully furnished homes, room by room, family by family.

You don’t need to furnish a home by yourself. You just need to be one of the roomful of people who show up every month.

An invitation

Furniture alone can't close the gap.

Most people who give to Furniture Bank give furniture — a couch, a dresser, a kitchen table. We’re grateful for every single item. But furniture alone can’t close the gap.

When a family needs a side table and none came in that week, generosity-in-kind runs out. Buying that side table takes funding. Covering the summer months when donations dip takes funding. That’s the part only donors like you can fill — and it’s the hardest part to find.

This is an invitation to be part of the roomful of people who fund the gap furniture can’t. Furniture Bank turns roughly $10 of social value out of every $1 invested — so your monthly gift goes a remarkably long way.

What your monthly gift makes possible

Your gift is never pinned to a single item or locked into a tier. It joins every other gift in the Roomful, and together that’s what furnishes whole homes — room by room, family by family. Give the amount that feels right for you.

No strings attached

Pause anytime — really

You’re able to pause your giving anytime with one click. No phone calls, no awkward conversations. Life changes, and your generosity can flex with it. Restart whenever you’re ready, with the same single click.

Spread the word

Your voice furnishes homes too

Being part of Roomful isn’t only about what you give. It’s about who you bring with you. A roomful grows one person at a time.

Somewhere in your life, someone is about to ask: “What on earth do I do with my old furniture?” That question lands on people constantly. You can be the trusted answer — their gently used furniture becomes a bed for a child who’s been sleeping on the floor, picked up free, delivered to a family within 24 hours.

How to share

Share Furniture Bank’s link from your own phone or inbox, to the people you choose. Frame it around the cause: “Know someone wondering what to do with their furniture? Here’s what Furniture Bank does.” When someone you pointed our way helps furnish a family’s home, we’ll make sure you know — because your word is part of the work we’re doing together.

Welcome home

You're part of the reason a child sleeps in a real bed tonight.

And next month, and the month after that. One item doesn’t make a home. One donor can’t do it alone. But a roomful of donors — giving every month and bringing others along — turns empty houses into homes, all year long.
