Twitter chair hits City Hall in support of Chair Affair

Believe us when we say, the chair is lighter than it looks…

After transporting the Twitter Canada chair in our executive director’s station wagon from Furniture Bank to City Hall (15 miles and 3 parking lot staircases later) the chair arrived safe and sound for its photo shoot. But this wasn’t your everyday shoot, this one featured City Councillor Norm Kelly or better known on Twitter as @norm.

Antoinette Plummer, Owner of Push Interiors, in collaboration with Twitter Canada brought a chair frame to life and created the first official Twitter Canada chair that will be up for auction at Chair Affair on the 30th of October at The International Centre. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Furniture Bank’s efforts to expand its service to meet the growing demand of refugees in need of furniture in the GTA.

Inspiration behind the Twitter Canada Chair:

“My Chair design is inspired by the weaving of lives through social media. The design is reflective of the way Twitter and the Furniture Bank helps to connect lives through their daily functionality. A velour white and woven fabric is used to tell a story of communication, connection, and the power of togetherness. The wooden legs of the chair were left with a natural finish to capture the organic roots of communication.”
