Thanks to an incredibly talented team of volunteers who help in our workshop, we are able to rescue furniture in need of minor repairs. Instead of ending up in landfill, our crew works their magic and these pieces find their way onto the showroom floor for clients to select for their homes. It’s a win for the environment and our families!
It’s also a win for volunteers like, Jacques – a retiree who also enjoys the social aspect of his weekly shifts at Furniture Bank.
“I like to see the broad diversity of clients picking out furniture when I walk through the warehouse. I like working with workshop staff and other volunteers, as we give used furniture ‘some love’ for those who need it for their new homes. A bonus for me is learning how to improve my woodworking skills, and socializing with the kind-hearted staff. All that ‘grounds’ me.”
