Thank you for your donation!
Because of you, a family will have a place to share a Thanksgiving meal.
Your gift will help a family in our community move out of furniture poverty and into a home where they can share a meal around a proper table. This Thanksgiving, and for years to come, they’ll have a place to reconnect, rebuild, and create lasting memories.

Sharing a family meal is about more than just food.
Research shows that family meals can:
More than just a meal
Imagine Thanksgiving without a table to gather around. No chairs to share stories and laughter, no plates to pile high with delicious food. For thousands of families in our community, this isn’t just imagination, it’s reality.
Sharing a Thanksgiving meal is about more than just the food. It’s about connection, tradition, and creating memories that last a lifetime. Research shows that family meals offer a wealth of benefits:
- Stronger family bonds: Conversations flow, relationships deepen, and communication skills blossom.
- Academic success: Children who share meals with their families tend to perform better in school.
- Healthier habits: Family meals promote nutritious eating and reduce the risk of disordered eating.
- Positive development: Teenagers, especially, benefit from the support and structure of regular family meals.
- Improved mental well-being: Sharing a meal can reduce stress and enhance emotional well-being for everyone at the table.
Sonia's Story
Sonia, who is donating furniture, speaks about the importance of a kitchen table:
“My parents moved from Spain to Canada before I was born and my dad used to say that they came literally wearing paper bags. My family had to work very hard to be able to start a life in Canada and furniture was most definitely a luxury. All of our time was spent around the only furniture we had—a kitchen table, so this piece of furniture is most meaningful to me and holds all of my family memories. I am so thankful that it will continue to provide memories for other families.”
Rijo's Story
Rijo, who is waiting for his wife and son to arrive in Canada, expresses his joy at receiving a dining table:
“We now have a gathering place. A sharing place. This is where our new life begins. This table is a symbol of my family’s chance for a happy life… “Only because of Furniture Bank, when my wife and young son reach Canada this August, they’ll be coming to a home; not to an empty, sorrowful place. This is a table made with love, by hand, a long time ago. Another family lived a life around this fine piece. My family will always know the story of this table and celebrate the kindness of the family who donated it.”
Kristina's Story
Kristina, a single mother, explains how a dining table helped her family:
“When we got our dining table from Furniture Bank, it was like a piece of normalcy came back into our lives. My kids finally had a place to sit together and eat, to talk about their day. It’s more than just furniture; it’s brought us back together as a family. It’s where we laugh, do homework, and make plans for the future. For us, it’s more than a table—it’s hope.”
