If you’re interested in receiving furniture from Furniture Bank, or know someone who might need our assistance, then please read the following information. This post outlines how Furniture Bank serves its clients, the services we provide, and most importantly, how clients can seek a referral to Furniture Bank.

1. Who is entitled to receive assistance from Furniture Bank?

Furniture Bank serves a range of clients including formerly homeless, women and children escaping abusive situations, newcomer families, refugees, and many others needing a fresh start.

2. How do clients receive furniture from Furniture Bank?

Individual clients cannot book appointments directly with Furniture Bank, and we are not open to the public. As Furniture Bank is not a social service agency, we entrust the assessment of our clients’ needs to our Partner Agencies who are better equipped to advise clients and provide a more complete level of support.

Individuals wishing to receive furniture from Furniture Bank, should contact one of our Partner Agencies who can make an assessment and/or a referral for an appointment.

3. What items can Furniture Bank provide?

Furniture Bank provides just about everything needed to furnish a home, including tables, chairs, beds, mattresses, sofas, book shelves, dressers, cookware, cutlery, and even artwork! However, as we rely on donations, occasionally some items may be unavailable at the time of your appointment.

Note however that Furniture Bank does not provide linens or major appliances likes stoves, fridges, dishwashers, washers or dryers.

4. Is the furniture offered free of charge?

Yes. All clients of Furniture Bank have access to an allotted number of items free of charge. The allotment is based on the number of family members in the client’s household.

5. Do you have a furniture delivery service?

Yes. All furniture selected by clients will be delivered to their home between 24 and 72 hours after their appointment. We deliver to Toronto, Scarborough, Brampton, Mississauga, Markham, Richmond Hill and Thornhill.

Please note: there is a subsidized fee for the delivery of the furniture to the client’s home. Fees range from $100 to $200 based on the number of items selected and any existing agreement with the client’s social service agency.
