A Furniture Bank Impact Story

Ali* began his employment at Furniture Bank through The Toronto Youth Corp and St. Christopher’s House. Like many Leg Up employees, he was facing systemic barriers to employment in other fields of work.

Ali began working at Furniture Bank as a mover’s helper, and his enthusiasm and desire to give back to the community was evident from the outset.

Throughout his employment with Furniture Bank, Ali’s has been able to both actively contributing to improving the lives of others, while also helping him hone his communication skills – with clients, colleagues, and supervisors alike.

Ali has developed a range of new abilities through our Leg Up program, including furniture assembly; organizational skills, especially in warehouse management; and mastered the art of loading and unloading trucks.

As Ali nears the end of his Leg Up program training, he’s looking forward to returning to school, where he’s interested in learning a trade or earning a certification to work with children.
