Furniture Bank strengthens leadership and expands impact: Annalee Sawiak appointed Chief Sustainability Officer

In response to the growing challenge of furniture poverty impacting vulnerable communities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and across Canada, Furniture Bank has taken strategic steps to reinforce its leadership and expand its influence. As an organization committed to making a profound social and environmental impact, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Annalee Sawiak as our Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). Simultaneously, we are proud to share that we are joining forces with Furniture Link Inc., marking a pivotal milestone in our journey. 

Shaping the future for Furniture Bank

Annalee Sawiak brings over three decades of strategic leadership experience, a profound dedication to social entrepreneurship, and an impressive track record in delivering sustainable solutions. As our newly appointed CSO, Annalee will play a pivotal role in several key facets of our mission, encompassing: 

Annalee’s wealth of experience empowers Furniture Bank to implement sustainable and impactful strategies that ensure our long-term success. Her expertise will enable us to continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. 

With Annalee, who trained with the Auditor General of Ontario, at the helm, we ensure our practices surpass all ethical and regulatory standards, maintaining the utmost integrity in our operations.

Annalee is dedicated to cultivating leadership skills within our team, empowering our staff to have a broader impact, driving our mission forward. 

Nurturing partnerships with external organizations, including government bodies and donors, is a crucial aspect of our work. Annalee will lead these efforts, fostering collaboration for a more significant impact. 

Annalee, a CPA CA designee, will develop revenue models to ensure the long-term sustainability of our philanthropic initiatives as Furniture Bank expands its reach and serves more communities 

Broadening our impact with Furniture Link

Founded by Annalee Sawiak, Furniture Link Inc. has played a pivotal role in uniting businesses, government entities, and non-profits in the fight against furniture waste. As we move forward, Furniture Bank is taking on these activities with the aim of expanding the Furniture Bank Network, strengthening our support for North American homing charities, and broadening our presence across the Canadian community.  

With Annalee’s appointment as our CSO and the inclusion of Furniture Link’s previous responsibilities, Furniture Bank is poised for innovative and impactful strategies in our approach to community service and environmental stewardship. We believe this development positions us exceptionally well to collaborate with like-minded stakeholders, businesses, and organizations.
