LIFT Philanthropy Partners to Help Furniture Bank Grow

Furniture Bank this week announced a partnership with LIFT Philanthropy Partners, whose resources, expertise and pro bono partner network will help our social enterprise continue to grow over the next 18 months.

As we strive to ensure that every individual and family in the GTA has the dignity associated with a furnished home, LIFT’s investment will assist Furniture Bank take the necessary steps to make our furniture pick up social enterprise operate as efficiently as possible.

Over the next two years, Furniture Bank seeks to provide comfort and dignity to 21,000 financially insecure persons who are emerging from homeless and displacement. In order to achieve that goal, we recognize the need to scale our furniture pickup service to serve more furniture donors and expand our geographic footprint.

Further, we need to ensure that this expansion goes hand in hand with our mission to provide employment opportunities and training to at-risk youth and those facing barriers to employment through our Leg Up program. By growing our social enterprise, LIFT will help us identify opportunities to expand our program to benefit nearly 100 Leg Up participants over the coming few years.

In summary, LIFT will help our social enterprise identify efficiencies/capacity improvements and address gaps in organizational capacity, increase awareness of Furniture Bank, assess new social enterprise opportunities, and strengthen partnerships with agencies and corporate funders.
