Why we might NOT be the best fit for you

are we the best fit for you?

At Furniture Bank we believe in full transparency and being 100% honest.

Although we would like each and every one of you to become one of our loyal customers (to build our network of people helping people!) we recognize that our removal service might just not be the right fit for you.

With this in mind, here are some reasons why we might not be able to work together:

1. You are on a tight budget

We get that city living isn’t cheap. We charge for our service, and the fee increases based on your total donation. This may not be cost-effective for you, and we get that, so selling your items is probably the more profitable option. It will certainly take time and effort, but if you can get some money back – it’s definitely worth it. Facebook Marketplace, Bunz and Kijiji are good places to start! And if you’re looking for free furniture removal – Habitat for Humanity might be an option for you.

2. You are moving (ASAP) today, tomorrow or on a weekend

AND you’re living in the service area we don’t go to every day. Let us explain.

Furniture Bank’s office is in Etobicoke and this is the starting and ending point for our trucks. We operate in our central area (see the map below) every day, Monday through Friday. When it comes to non-standard service areas (meaning: North West, South West or immediate West) – we operate on specific days of the week only. This may cause delays if you’re in rush with your move.

3. Your furniture is more than “gently used”

We don’t accept the items that are damaged, stained or fetid. Why? – Read more here.

And with our warehouse remaining closed, we can’t provide the loving-care we used to. In that case, you can try to repair it yourself or call a local junk company. Here’s an article on furniture removal options in Toronto

4. Your items are things we do not accept

We only accept gently used, apartment-sized furniture and housewares.

That means anything over 6ft in height, big office furniture, outdoor furniture or reno waste won’t be suitable for donation. Here is a link with items we can and cannot accept (and recommendations for alternatives).
